Crewe: Gordon-Glyn Roberts, a 48-year-old thief, has been banned from several places. He can’t enter any B&M or Tesco stores in Cheshire for three years.

This order also includes Crewe’s Dorothy Flude Retail Park and Grand Junction Retail Park. He can only visit a pharmacy on Victoria Street in the town center.

Roberts, who has no fixed address, must avoid Davenport Avenue too. Cheshire Police say he can’t use language or behavior that makes others feel threatened.

He received this order at Crewe Magistrates’ Court this month due to his history of shoplifting and anti-social behavior. If he ignores the order, he could end up in jail.

Local officers believe these orders are crucial for tackling shoplifting. Inspector Dan Welch mentioned that this is the fifth order obtained recently to combat theft in Crewe.

They’re working closely with local shops to protect the community. Theft affects not just the stores but also the staff, who sometimes face threats or violence.

No one should feel unsafe just for doing their job. The police want shop staff to know they take these crimes seriously and will use tools like the Criminal Behaviour Order to keep them safe.
